Our chairman Capt. Alok Kumar, an experienced Master Mariner, envisaged a dream of providing exemplary services

Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC) was launched in response to the region’s growing maritime activity, the UAE’s ambitions to develop into the world’s largest maritime hub in the world by 2025, and the belief in the efficiency of the arbitration and mediation process.

Established in accordance with an Emiri decree, EMAC is based out of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), has its own legal identity and is financially and administratively independent. 

As the first specialised maritime arbitration centre to be established in the MENA region, EMAC works with organisations across the region, providing services for resolving maritime disputes - through arbitration, mediation and other dispute resolution processes. It aims to position the UAE as a centre of excellence for maritime dispute resolution, adhering to best practice in line with international standards.

EMAC has its own set of arbitration and mediation rules based on the most up to date internationally recognised standards, UNCITRAL. EMAC rules aim to enable parties to settle maritime disputes effectively, by allowing for emergency arbitration and fast-track arbitration, meeting market demand and addressing the sector’s need for fast and efficient dispute resolution.

The Panama Ship Registry is the leading worldwide flag state, with the 18% of the total world fleet tonnage with over 8,000 registered vessels and over 220 million GRT of the global merchant fleet.

The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) is the highest Authority overseeing the shipping interest of Panama, including the Panamanian Ship Registry and it's users.

The Headquarters are located in Panama City.  The AMP has four Directorates and three of them are related to the Ship Registry.
The Directorate General of Merchant Marine  has  24/7 technical offices (SEGUMAR) which are the flag's safety department and is supported by a network of over 60 Consulates worldwide.  SEGUMAR offices are located in New York, Tokyo, Imabari, Istambul, Singapore, Seoul, Busan and Pireaus; which together with the Seafarers Regional Offices make Panama the busiest Registry in the world, dealing with over 3million applications yearly.

The Directorate General of Seafarers supervises among other responsibilities the certification of over 600,000 seafarers.
