Sea Asia
The Sea Asia Youth Lego Competition
The Sea Asia Youth Tour is held in conjunction with the biennial Sea Asia Conference and Exhibition event and falls on the last day of the show. The youth tour is also a MaritimeONE student outreach initiative which aims to expose maritime students from various Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) to the diversity and spectrum of services under Maritime Singapore, as well as gain a deeper appreciation for maritime.

As part of Sea Asia Youth Tour 2017, over 220 participants from the IHLs will be participating in a guided tour that will bring them around Sea Asia 2017’s Exhibition Halls. Through the tour, participants will have the chance to meet and greet experienced professionals from a wide variety of maritime companies, and learn more about the career opportunities available in the industry. Participants of the tour will include, for the first time, both youths from IHLs, as well as career counsellors working with students and job seekers.

This year, the youth tour will also be incorporating a first-of-its-kind Lego competition, which will be held alongside the Sea Asia Youth Tour 2017. The Sea Asia Youth Lego Competition (Panama Canal Edition) aims to promote maritime through a fun and interactive activity, and hopes to provide students pursing a maritime-related education with greater insight to the industry.

With support from The Panama Canal Authority, three groups of students from the Singapore Maritime Academy (Singapore Polytechnic), Ngee Ann Polytechnic and ITE College Central will be tasked to compete and recreate part of the Panama Canal under 90 minutes. Competing students will be judged based on their speed, accuracy and functionality of the Limited Edition Lego Panama Canal models on hand.

The Lego Panama Canal (Education Edition) is limited edition and only 40,000 sets are produced in the world.
