Conference

Sea Asia 2009 Conferences ended on a successful note. 10 conference sessions were held in a space of 3 days;   68 speakers comprising maritime business leaders and subject matter experts shared their in-depth knowledge about the maritime industry.

Interesting facts and figures!

Results of an on-site poll showed that:

  • The Intra-Asia container trade lines would be most likely to recover first
  • Vessels most negatively impacted by overcapacity and the trade downturn are those that are sized more than 10,000 TEU.
  • Future optimum size of containerships on mainhaul trades would most likely be between 8000 TEU to 10,000 TEU
  • The highest BDI that can be reached in 2009 would be somewhere between 2000 and 4000.
  • A reasonable balance between dry bulk ship supply and demand will be restored in 2012.
  • During the rest of 2009, oil per barrel at its highest level would most likely be priced between $60 to $80
