Synopsis:
As the global sulphur limit 2020 approaches, ship owners and operators need to implement robust measures to keep themselves protected and their ships trading. More than ever, an integrated approach to marine fuels will have to be adopted by the maritime industry in order to avoid unnecessary challenges that can be avoided by careful planning and effectively aligning all stakeholders in the marine fuels industry with one and other. Fuel selection and procurement will need to be carefully considered in view of ships’ machinery systems ability to manage the fuel including handling of the fuel by crew on-board. This presentation will focus on key aspects to be considered for compliance, from contractual (charterer) bunker clauses, fuel procurement, ship on-board storage and handling, through to treatment and combustion.
